Laughter echoed across the camp as children ran from one activity to another. Parents shared smiles, warm embraces, and stories of how far they had come. As families stepped forward to receive their graduation certificates, a few quiet tears appeared—tears of gratitude, joy, and hope.
This was more than the closing of a program. It was a celebration of families who had grown stronger together—and a reminder that when families are given the right support, change is possible.

In June 2026, BSF celebrated the graduation of three Family Strengthening Program cohorts in Chiang Mai—Padaed, Choeng Doi, and Buakkhang. Together, 30 families, representing 107 parents, grandparents, and children, completed an 18-month journey of learning, healing, and growing together.

Every Family Had a Story
When these families first joined the program, each carried a different burden. Some faced financial hardship, others were navigating grief, unexpected caregiving responsibilities, or broken relationships. Yet they all shared one hope—that their children could grow up in a safe, loving family.
Over 18 months, BSF teams walked alongside them through regular home visits, family training, counselling, and practical support. Change didn't happen overnight, but through small, faithful steps, families began to rebuild their confidence, strengthen their relationships, and create healthier homes. By the end of the program, the transformation was clear.
Every graduating family reported feeling more hopeful about the future, more confident in their ability to keep their family together, and stronger in their family relationships. Every family also shared that they felt better overall.
Of these 30 graduating families, 95% have increased their income by 30% or more, while 100% have been empowered to keep their children in a loving family environment and are now able to meet their children’s basic needs. Most significantly, 100% of the families have experienced significant holistic improvement across five of the key areas assessed by the program: sanitation and hygiene, food security, health, livelihood, and education.
Behind every statistic is a family whose story is being rewritten.
Hope You Can See
One of those stories belongs to a precious widow, Mother Sai.
After losing her husband, she faced the overwhelming responsibility of raising her children alone. The future felt uncertain, but she never had to face it by herself. Through regular encouragement, home visits, and support to start a livelihood, she gradually rebuilt both her confidence and her ability to provide for her family.

"Thank you to BSF for supporting my family, especially by helping me start a livelihood. Because of this, after my husband passed away, I was still able to earn an income to care for my children. The encouragement from the BSF staff during their regular visits gave me strength to keep going. I am so thankful for this opportunity."
Her journey is a powerful reminder that hope often begins when someone chooses to walk alongside you.
Growing Stronger Together
A key part of the BSF program is helping families build sustainable livelihoods.
Early in the program, families learned practical money management skills and created financial plans together. They then received Income Generation Assistance (IGA) to start or grow small businesses suited to their skills and circumstances.
Today, families are raising pigs, frogs, and chickens, growing mushrooms, sewing clothes, farming, and running small food businesses. These livelihoods are helping parents provide for their children, reduce financial stress, and build a more secure future.

Mother Paeng said, "Before joining the program, life was very difficult. Through BSF, we received support to start a frog farm, help with our child’s education, and health check-ups. The income from raising frogs has made a big difference in our family’s life, helping us become more financially stable and better able to support our child. Our lives have truly changed in every way."
Her story reminds us that strengthening families is about more than increasing income. It's about restoring dignity, building resilience, and creating hope that lasts.
More Than a Graduation
Throughout the program, families didn't just learn together—they laughed together.
Whether during Family Fun Days, home visits, or community activities, parents and children created memories that strengthened trust, deepened relationships, and reminded them of the joy of simply being together.
As the celebration came to a close, families returned home carrying more than a certificate. They left with stronger relationships, practical skills, renewed confidence, and the hope that their children can continue to thrive within the love of their own families.
Graduation is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of a new chapter.
And while one chapter came to an end, another was just beginning.
The next month after, BSF welcomed 40 new families into four Family Strengthening Programs—two new cohorts in communities where BSF already had programs in the past, Padaed and Buakkhang, and two new cohorts in new target communities: Nong Khiao and Joo Jee. For BSF, this is what family strengthening looks like: walking alongside families through change, celebrating the progress they make, and continuing to reach families who are still waiting for hope.
Over the months ahead, families will learn practical skills, strengthen relationships, and explore ways to build more stable futures for their children. There will be challenges along the way, but they will not walk alone.
The stories of the 30 graduating families remind us what is possible when families are supported over time. Now, 40 new families are taking their first steps toward that same hope.

Thidarat, one of the children joining the new program, shared her hopes for the future:
“I hope my family will have enough money for our daily needs. I want to live with my grandparents in a family where we love and understand one another. I want the opportunity to continue my education.”
Thank you to every donor, program partner, volunteer, and supporter who has walked alongside these families. Your generosity is helping children stay where they belong—in safe, loving, and sustainable families. Together, we are building stronger families and brighter futures, one family at a time.
One chapter ends. Another begins. And the journey toward stronger families continues.
