Imagine juggling two children, elderly parents, and mounting debt… yet finding a way to turn it all into a stable future. Mint has done just that!

Mint is a single mother of two and the primary caregiver for her elderly parents, including her bedridden mother. Every day, she carefully balances caring for her loved ones with earning a living by selling vegetables. Some days she earns enough to cover basic needs; other days, nothing. The weight of her responsibilities often leaves her anxious, wondering how she can provide for her children while looking after her aging parents.
A Turning Point
Despite these heavy burdens, Mint never gave up. Her life began to change when she joined the BSF program, receiving guidance and support to start a small mushroom cultivation business. She recalls, “When I was selected to join this program, my heart lifted. I realized I was no longer alone—there were people to listen, encourage, and support me.”
Through hands-on training, Mint learned not only how to grow mushrooms but also how to manage her business effectively. Initially, she received 500 mushroom blocks from the program, which she and her children tended carefully. The harvest was fruitful, and soon Mint was able to sell mushrooms almost every day at the market. Encouraged by this success, she expanded to a second batch of 500 blocks, improving her skills and producing even more.

From Small Steps to Real Impact
The earnings from her mushroom business have already reduced her family debt by 40%, bringing hope for a debt-free future. Mint shares, “I feel excited and full of hope to finally start a side business I’ve dreamed of for so long. Before, I lacked capital, time, and support. Now, I am determined to do my best because every step I take helps my family’s income and stability.”
Mint also values the family training sessions provided by BSF, particularly on financial management and bookkeeping. These skills helped her plan and monitor her income, enabling her to make informed decisions for her family. She says, “Learning to track income and expenses changed the way I manage my life. When I applied it, I saw real benefits—it helped me reduce debt and gain control over our finances.”
Hope and Empowerment
Even with limited time for rest, Mint has found a way to spend meaningful moments with her children. “Through this BSF program, I finally have time to connect with them. I’m so grateful,” she says.
Mint’s story reminds us that small, timely support can create lasting change. With guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance, a single mother burdened with enormous responsibilities can not only survive but build a strong, hopeful future for her family.
