Resilience and Renewal: How One Mother Transformed Her Family’s Future

Resilience is born from challenge. Hope grows where opportunity meets determination. Ayer’s story is proof that with the right support, a mother can create a brighter future for her children.
Meet Ayer, a devoted mother of three whose unwavering determination has carried her family through countless challenges. Life had not been easy—financial struggles weighed heavily on her shoulders, and her husband’s lack of involvement left her to bear most of the household responsibilities on her own.
Everything began to change when Ayer joined a BSF family-strengthening program in the mountains of northern Thailand. Through the program, she found more than just support—she discovered hope, opportunity, and a community that believed in her potential. She participated in self-development workshops, enjoyed “Family Fun Day” outings with her children, and received a livelihood support package that would become a turning point in her life: three piglets and 18 sacks of pig feed to start a small pig-raising business.
With determination and care, Ayer nurtured her pigs, learning the skills and discipline required to grow her new venture. Her first round of pigs sold successfully, and she reinvested the profits into expanding her business. Today, her pig-raising enterprise is thriving. She plans to breed parent pigs for sale, further expanding the business and creating a sustainable source of income. The revenue now not only sustains the household but has also allowed her to improve the pigsty—making it cleaner, more organized, and a place she can be proud of.
Even more encouraging, her husband, who had previously been uninvolved, has returned with a renewed heart. He now actively helps with both the pig business and household responsibilities, bringing a sense of unity and shared responsibility that the family had long needed.
During a recent home visit, Ayer greeted the BSF coordinator with a warm, grateful smile:
"I am deeply thankful to BSF for supporting me with the pig-raising project. I feel hopeful again, and I’m determined to take good care of this opportunity that I’ve been given."
