We’re so excited to share that Building Strong Families Foundation (BSF) has just launched two new 18-month Family Strengthening Programs in Thailand—one in Nong Khwai, and the other in Nong Phueng. Together, we welcomed 20 courageous families who have taken the first step on a powerful journey of healing, growth, and transformation.
Opening Day: A Warm Welcome to Something New
The programs kicked off with special opening days at each location—gatherings full of curiosity, a few shy smiles, and growing excitement. As parents and children arrived, they began greeting each other, some a little reserved at first. But thanks to some fun icebreaker games and laughter-filled moments, the atmosphere quickly transformed.
Soon, the sound of joyful giggles and chatter filled the air as families played, connected, and began forming the bonds that will carry them through the next 18 months. For many, it was the first time in a long time that they felt seen, supported, and part of a safe, welcoming community.

Orientation: A Glimpse of What’s to Come
After the ice was broken and new friendships began to form, families gathered for an orientation to learn more about the BSF journey ahead.
Over the next 18 months, each family will be supported through a well-rounded journey of growth. They’ll take part in relationship-strengthening workshops, receive practical parenting guidance, and gain income-generation training and support to help build financial stability. Along the way, they’ll enjoy family fun days, and access health and education assistance—all while being consistently encouraged by the BSF team and the supportive community around them.
As the goals and activities of the program were shared, the atmosphere began to change—hope started to take root.
One of the participants, 62-year-old Grandma Rien, shared:
“These days, I live with my husband and our granddaughter. Her parents left her in our care, but we don’t really have work—just weaving bamboo strips at home. I didn’t know how we could raise her well with so little. But now, I feel hopeful. This program gives me a chance to start something meaningful—for her.”

Moments of Meaning: Commitment, Reflection, and Newfound Strength
In Nong Phueng, after the orientation, families enjoyed a peaceful stroll through the garden. There was soft laughter, deep conversation, and plenty of photos as they connected in a calm, natural setting.
Meanwhile, in Nong Khwai, families gathered in a circle to reflect on their hopes and goals. Together, in a heartfelt moment of unity—they committed to the program’s values, and to one another. They expressed their desire not just to survive, but to grow together—as stronger families and a stronger community.
Mimi, a 41-year-old mother and widow from Nong Phueng, who takes care of her two children and three nieces and nephews, shared her moving story:
“Just one month before joining the program, my husband passed away in an accident. I suddenly became a widow, raising two children and three nieces and nephews alone. But now, after seeing what this program offers, I no longer feel alone. I have support. I have friends. And I have hope.”

Looking Ahead: Strength, Stability, and Transformation
We’re deeply honored to walk alongside these brave families. Their commitment to keep their children in a loving family and to change—despite personal hardship, grief, and poverty—inspires us. They’re not only seeking financial stability, but also deeper relationships, emotional healing, and stronger futures for their children.

We’re deeply thankful to all our BSF co-partners whose support makes it possible to offer these life-changing opportunities to the families we serve. We can’t wait to see what the next 18 months will bring: impactful trainings, community celebrations, and transformative moments of resilience and growth.
This is just the beginning. And it’s already beautiful.
